FAQ

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Animal rights means that animals deserve certain considerations, which include the question of what is in their best interest, regardless of whether they are considered 'cute' by people; whether they are useful to humans, whether they belong to an endangered species, or whether any person cares about them (just as humans have rights even if they are not beautiful, useful, or loved by anyone). It means understanding that animals are not our property to be used – for food, clothing, entertainment, or experimentation.

A peaceful life means living in accordance with values that respect all forms of life. This includes non-violence towards animals, respecting their rights, and fighting for their survival in their natural habitat. We advocate for coexistence with animals without exploitation, neglect, or cruelty, and encourage others to recognize the value of every being, regardless of its species.

We recommend starting gradually, exploring vegan recipes, substitutes for animal products, and learning about the environmental and health impacts. Our organization offers resources, advice, and support through educational programs and support groups for those who want to transition to veganism.

We do not have our own shelter. All the animals we manage to rehome are placed exclusively through personal resourcefulness.

Try posting an adoption ad on various animal-focused websites, as well as advertising in local newspapers, placing ads on bulletin boards in your city, etc

Also, you should neuter your dogs and cats, as this is the only effective way to control their population. It is better to neuter them than for their offspring to suffer and be killed by someone else...

There are many ways to help animals, even if you're not vegan. You can donate to organizations that protect animals, volunteer at shelters, reduce the use of products that involve animal exploitation, and support ethical brands that promote animal welfare.

Absolutely! In Serbia, there are more and more vegan options, restaurants, stores, and products that make a vegan lifestyle possible. Education about veganism is growing, and many people are successfully transitioning to a vegan diet and lifestyle.

Veganism is not only about food but also about all aspects of life, including cosmetics and clothing. There are many vegan brands that offer products without animal ingredients and that are not tested on animals. Additionally, there are brands that use ethically produced clothing, without the use of animal materials such as leather, wool, or silk.

We believe that the use of animals in entertainment, whether in circuses, zoos, or aquariums, leads to suffering and stress for the animals, who are often confined in inadequate conditions. We believe that we should focus on educating people about animals in their natural habitats and support laws that prohibit such forms of exploitation.

Through the promotion of a vegan lifestyle, we reduce the negative impact on the environment, as the meat and dairy industry contributes significantly to harmful gas emissions, deforestation, and pollution. Veganism helps reduce these negative effects by supporting a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of life.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that a vegan diet is not nutritionally complete. This is not true – vegans can get all the necessary nutrients with proper diet planning. Also, many people think that a vegan diet only means salads, which is not true, as there is a wide variety of delicious and nutritious vegan dishes.

There are laws at both national and international levels that try to protect animals from abuse, such as:

  • Animal Protection LawIn many countries, there are laws that prohibit cruelty to animals, but they vary in terms of strictness and the effectiveness of enforcement.
  • Animal Welfare Acthis law regulates the living conditions and transportation of animals, as well as the prohibition of cruel treatment towards them in industries.
  • International treatiesThere are a number of international treaties and organizations working to protect endangered species and prevent illegal wildlife trade, such as CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).

Some of the industries that contribute the most to the exploitation of animals are:

  • Agriculture (meat and dairy industry): Millions of animals suffer daily in industries that produce meat, milk, and eggs, where they are often confined to small cages, enduring physical injuries and emotional stress.
  • The pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.: Animal testing is still practiced in many parts of the world, despite the existence of alternative methods.
  • Fashion industryThe production of fur, leather, and silk often involves cruel practices such as killing animals in inhumane conditions.
  • Entertainment industry: Circuses, zoos, and similar establishments often use animals for entertainment purposes, which includes forced trick training, forced reduction of natural behaviors, and physical abuse.

Reducing animal abuse starts with understanding their rights and supporting organizations that fight for their protection. You can contribute to reducing animal abuse through:

  • Transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, which reduces the demand for meat, dairy, and eggs.
  • Support for legislation that protects animal rights.
  • Raising awareness and educating others about the cruelty in industries such as the meat, dairy, and cosmetics industries.
  • Donating to organizations that work on rescuing and rehabilitating animals.

If you become a witness or learn about animal abuse, you can:

  • Contact the appropriate authorities: Notify local authorities or animal protection organizations that can investigate the situation.
  • Support animal protection organizations: Donate or volunteer with organizations that document and stop animal abuse.
  • Spread informationShare information with friends and family and use social media to encourage changes in legislation and raise awareness about this issue.
